History of the X254

The X254 GLC debuted in 2022 as the comprehensive redesign of Mercedes-Benz's most successful compact luxury SUV model.

Development prioritized technological advancement and emotional design language while maintaining the practical footprint that established the original GLC's market dominance. The new platform enabled significant improvements in handling, interior spaciousness, and powertrain efficiency across the entire lineup.

Mercedes introduced the electrified portfolio simultaneously, with plug-in hybrid GLC 300e and GLC 400e variants arriving at launch alongside traditional combustion engines. This multi-powertrain strategy positioned the X254 as a bridge between conventional and electric luxury mobility.

The AMG GLC 63 S E Performance variant launched later, featuring a hybrid-electrified V8 engine producing over 680 horsepower and establishing new performance benchmarks within the compact SUV segment. This high-performance model showcased AMG's latest electrification and turbocharging technologies.
